Willowdale Estate Wedding (Topsfield, MA): Nicole & Marc

Nicole y Marc

Nicole y Marc

I love good stories. I love learning from the amazing people and places that I connect with through my work. Marc & Nicole are incredible: their story is all about integrity, friendship and joy. I’ve already written one post about making their engagement photos overlooking San Francisco & The Golden Gate Bridge (here), but this past weekend was a reminder that their obvious love, talents and mutual respect are as humbling to witness as they are beautiful. Marc & Nicole are the kind of people who are so wonderful that we flew Malia in from San Francisco just for the weekend to help capture their day. It was all well worth the effort: what a wedding it turned out to be!

Nicole’s Wedding Dress & Customized Hanger.

Details: Jimmy Choo wedding shoes & wedding party custom hoodies!

Marc is an super talented musician with The Allman Brothers Band and 8 y Más. Every guest received a set of personalized Zildjian Quiñones drumsticks. Rings sold separately.

Bridesmaids!

Marc and his Best Man Bobby Allende: childhood friends who have played together while touring the world. That kind of loyalty and friendship tells you something about the kind of men these guys are.

Marc rolling up his sleeves and getting the ring bearer’s hair just right.

Really Cool Detail: A vintage garter from Nicole’s mother’s birthmother. Something old and something blue!

Getting Ready.

A beautiful reflection.

Handkerchief and bouquet.

One last BIG breath before walking down the aisle!

Nicole sees Marc for the first time!

Marc’s reaction was just beautiful. Sincere and sweet. Their connection is real. We all saw it.

Not a dry eye in the house.

The Willowdale Estate Courtyard.

Beautiful.

The rings were presented in this glass box filled with bits of moss.

The kiss!

Time to party!

Joy.

A few shots in front of the estate.

One big group shot: thanks for making us feel so welcome everyone!

Nicole sees the details of the tent for the first time.

The staff at The Willowdale Estate were fantastic. What a beautiful place for a wedding.

More details: personalized champagne glasses, place settings and Marc’s custom designed suit jacket.

A forest of personalized drumsticks. Each set of drumsticks held the seating card for each guest.

On the left is Nicole just relaxing having some champagne while having her dress bustled. On the right is her wonderful sister who is toiling away in the depths of a singlehanded bustle attempt. Success! Impressive!

Mr. & Mrs. Quiñones!

Marc’s dad giving his toast. Such a funny guy!

Marc’s dad, The Best Man Bobby and Nicole’s sister presenting her with an album compiled from the guests contributions of letters/photos.

This cake was amazing.

I love this series. I have no idea what’s going on here, but I love it.

The Willowdale Courtyard was transformed into a Moroccan lounge for the evening. Loved the colors!

First dance.

These people can dance! (concrete floor and narrow space didn’t slow anyone down)

I’m pretty sure Marc & Nicole danced and/or played in the band all night long!

Nicole dancing with her dad.

Bobby looking on as Marc speaks to the crowd.

Music time. Oh man. These guys are AWESOME!!!

Rubén Blades on the left, Eddie Rosado on the right. So good.

Bobby on the left; Marc’s Dad on the right. Seems everyone in the room could step in and play.

Best Man & Groom playing together.

Eddie on vocals.

This is the wedding that had everything. And I mean everything! Nicole’s father is a Kiwi, and so these guys got up and did The Haka! My wife is a born and raised Hawaiian girl, and though we have always appreciated a good haka, we have never seen one at a wedding. One of my favorite parts of the night!

I’ve only touched on the breadth and depth of Nicole & Marc’s talents and experiences. There is a deep connection between Nicole’s family, their safari business, and the country of Tanzania. How appropriate then, that the departing gift for all their guests would be small bags of Tanzanian Coffee.

Oh yeah… almost forgot. We brought the Photo Booth, and these guests went nuts!

Swords, jumping, little girls, bigger girls, masks, glasses and champagne. Of course.

“I have no idea” -Pop

More jumping, more swords, giant sunglasses, laughing and passing out. Sounds about right for a Photo Booth!

Always Classy. Always.

Nicole and Marc, I don’t know where to begin. I am humbled. We are deeply humbled. By your talents, your love, your generosity and your ability to do so many amazing things… yet not take yourselves seriously. Wow. Malia and I were driving home at 2am still jabbering away about the many favorite parts of your wedding. You did it all… it was beautiful, and fun and REAL. We are so impressed and so thrilled to have had you as our clients… and now our friends! Congratulations. The hard work, the creativity, the thought, the love… it all came through. We saw it. We loved it. Thank you for trusting us to capture your story! What an honor!

A Musical Wedding | Ann Vollum Calligraphy - […] In June I was excited to do the calligraphy for the Nicole Wineland -Thompson (of the holiday adventure company) and Marc Quiñones (the percussionist and member of The Allman Brothers Band) wedding which took place in September of 2013 at the Willowdale Estate in Massachusetts. Earlier, I had worked with Zoe at my favorite letterpress shop “Zoe Ink” on calligraphy for the beautiful invitations that she designed and printed. I designed a modern script to go with the spirit of this wedding. Check out photographs from the wedding at WEDGE. […]ReplyCancel
