Migis Lodge Wedding: boat ride on sebago lake in Maine.

An amazing way to leave a ceremony: aboard the Migis Lodge wooden boat at sunset.

Last Saturday we were so happy to support Anamarie & Kris at their wedding on Sebago Lake, at Migis Lodge, in Casco Maine.  We felt lucky to be there… and even luckier to dodge the impending “Superstorm Sandy” as it barreled up the coast.  Little did we know at the time that Sandy would cause such massive destruction to the greater New York / New Jersey areas… a place that is special to us not just because we photograph there all the time, but because so many of our dear friends and clients live there.  So I’ll start this post by saying that Malia and I are thinking of all of you, and please remember that if you need to escape the city, there’s always room here in Maine for you!

Ok, back to Anamarie & Kris!  I think the best indication of the spirit that surrounds these two is indicated by their wedding date on the very last Saturday in October.  Their wedding day was planned well in advance, with a love for autumn… and a certain positivity that despite potential rain/wind/cold… their day was going to be incredible.  And wouldn’t you know it!  It was!  That spirit pervaded every aspect of their wedding: thoughtful, laid back, and very fun.

My very favorite part of any wedding is the opportunity to capture the underlying story of a couple’s day.  Anamarie & Kris were no different: they LOVE autumn, they LOVE Maine, they LOVE, LOVE, LOVE leaves.  So I had to include some leaves wherever possible.  I know about their love of foliage because we took the time to get to know them, and it made all the difference.  Lots of dialogue made it so that they were relaxed and comfortable around us… and we knew how to support them and their hopes for the day.

Nothing says “October Wedding” like a carved pumpkin!

If you hang out with Anamarie, you’re GOING to laugh a lot.

The ring bearer: So polite.

Love the detail of those fancy shoes!

Arriving to the wedding in style. Aboard the Migis Lodge boat!

I’m in love with Anamarie’s mom. So funny… so nice.

The view from the boat of Sebago lake.

The boat did a drive-by past the ceremony site before motoring to the dock.

First look at Kris!

Beautiful ceremony!

The kiss!

Happy, happy, happy!

Their dog is so incredible. We are big fans of Elbee!

Love this detail of their shoes!

Beautiful.

First dance.

This woman celebrated her 84th birthday that night. 84!!! She killed it on the dance floor for 3+ hours too. My hero!

Cupcakes instead of a giant wedding cake. We had to sample one (for journalistic purposes only). They were amazing.

The photobooth made an appearance too!

The photobooth was a big hit with the guests!

Love the energy here. Conga line being led by Anamarie and this little guy.

Sunset over Sebago Lake at Migis Lodge. Spectacular.

It’s all about the love.

We had an incredible time with everyone at this wedding.  The friends, family… everyone made us feel right at home.  We’ve photographed for many years at Migis Lodge and can’t recommend the location enough.  We photograph all around the world… and Migis is still one of our favorite spots.  The weekend was made so special by the thought, creativity and effort by so many involved.  Thank you for allowing us to document your big day!  Congratulations!
